John Furnival Exhibition

From 10 am until 4.00 pm

At Ruskin Mill Gallery GL6 0LA

Free

John Furnival was a student at the Royal College of Art in the 1950s, alongside David Hockney. Since that time, describing himself as a ‘drawer’, he has lived in Nailsworth and Woodchester. Although best known as a ‘visual poet’ with work in the Tate’s collection, his drawings celebrating life in the Cotswolds have rarely been exhibited. At Ruskin Mill, the exhibition will feature Nailsworth (including Spring Hill and George Street with its well-known copper kettle), his early home at Rowden Cottage below Hazelwood (including family portraits and photographs of visitors such as Hockney), drawings relating to the poet W H Davies, the cemetery at Painswick, and Woefuldane Bottom near Minchinhampton. www.johnfurnival.com
